Torched Laughter Studio Diary: Day 3
I delayed recording until late evening. Had to make last minute preparations, reduce any excess noise entering the recording space. Just in case, went down to a small guitar store to get extra strings and mandolin picks. Of course they didn’t have the gauge I required. Ah well, I’ll live without them.
One glass of wine later and we’re off.
Though being fun, it took a long time to get 2 songs down `just right.’ These tracks are called `Jaw Filled Wreckage’ and `The Tilted Figure Eight’ respectively. As recording progresses I should be able to get into greater detail about each tune.
I had to keep re-taking because the microphones kept picking up the guitar shifting on my legs ever so slightly. I have a problem sitting still. Around 4am I called it a night. I was expecting to finish all the guitar tracks but I am pleased with the quality of what was put down. I managed to bring out my old trusty and rusty Epiphone 12 string for one of the songs. That guitar is over 20 years old, has seen and done more things than I.
